More than 110 years of experience – and a clear look ahead

Since 1912, Hinrich Feldmeyer (HIF) is known for premium quality in the hardwood trade.

What began as a timber trading business in Bremen has developed into a modern sawmill based in Hemsbünde. Over generations, we have continuously developed the knowledge, technology, and passion for wood – and never lost sight of our values.

Our values – rooted in tradition, grown with responsibility

Regionality, reliability, and responsibility towards our wood suppliers and customers, the forest, and our environment form the foundation of our family business. Just as a tree stands firm only through its healthy roots, we draw our strength from long‑standing partnerships, sustainable thinking, and a strong sense of family.

We focus on products that are created with care, experience and respect for the material wood, and we use 100% of the log. Every tree holds a story of its own, and we feel responsible to carry that story forward with care and craftsmanship.

For more than a century, our company’s history has survived war and peace, ups and downs. What endured — and proved invaluable — were friendships, expertise, and a steadfast commitment to continuing our tradition in the wood trade. These values continue to shape our family today and inspire us to face the future with heart and responsibility.

Our history as a sustainable family business
